Dear Colleagues,

The ICSD Administrative Team is establishing a permanent Committee on Learning and Technology (COLT). This letter is a formal invitation to enlist your participation as an important stakeholder. We need your assistance in developing the most effective approaches to enhancing district technology resources and utilization for the purpose of advancing learning for all students.

Our first meeting was held on May 29, 2009 at which time we decided that it would be important to widen our net relative to representative members of our school district in planning the work ahead. We are reconvening on June 22nd to discuss our thoughts around many of the documents that are posted on the wiki recently developed by Andy Yale. Please indicate your willingness to serve on this committee by filling out the form at http://colt-rsvp.notlong.com at which time Andy will sent you an invitation to the wiki so that you are able to prepare yourself for our upcoming meeting.

The facilitation of this Committee will rotate between me and other members of our group. Our membership will be representative of central office administration, principals, technology committee chairs, technology staff developers and mentors, and other staff and students who are interested in playing a role in making recommendations regarding all aspects of technology use as a tool for learning.

The time commitment for this committee work should average about three hours per month. If we are working on a specific project that requires a longer time commitment, we will seek to encourage subcommittee work for members that will play a more direct role.

Thank you in advance for your dedication to ensuring that our students develop the competitive technological skills that will be required to meet with success in the 21st Century.

Sincerely,

Constance D. Evelyn
